Letter From the CEO: We Are Built On Community

Letter From the CEO

We are in uncharted territory. As the world copes with the continuing impact of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, community becomes more important than ever. It may seem counterintuitive, as we quarantine and practice social distancing, but communities are built on more than physical, face-to-face interactions.

April is Autism Awareness Month—which means people affected by autism around the world are making an extra push to come together and connect, even virtually. In this month’s newsletter, we’re highlighting some of the best ways to celebrate Autism Awareness Month (yes, even while maintaining social distancing) and sharing tips from across the autism community for families facing increased difficulties because of COVID-19.

We’ve put together a special article, full of tips and resources specifically aimed at families affected by autism looking for help to cope with the coronavirus pandemic. We’re also sharing links to some of our personal favorite reading resources to provide extra support for our community during this trying time.

We also want to remind everyone of our exciting expansion into telehealth! Now that we provide online telehealth services across all of our offices and supported by virtually all of our funding sources, we can offer you needed extra support during these challenging social distancing times. Most funding sources have approved telehealth services and our staff is well trained to provide increased remote care. For more information about telehealth services, call 888-428-3223. We are happy to answer questions about our program and how we can help you and your family.

Dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic isn’t easy for anyone, but for families of a child with autism, we know that any change to routine can feel catastrophic and we’re here to help because we can get through this—together.

Remember: Each month, we’ll be sharing this newsletter with our staff and community to help keep you connected to all things Intercare. If you want more updates like this one delivered to your inbox, please subscribe to the newsletter and be sure to share with other members of the Intercare community.

I always welcome feedback and love hearing from you. If you want to reach out about the newsletter or any other Autism related matter, don’t hesitate to email me at
